Wood and marble

Some people may argue that the only 'ugly' item here is the author's stumpy toes and the terrible quality of the camera phone image, or how the place looks seemingly uninhabited / full of dussssst. Very valid statements, for Parquet and Broken Marble are two everlasting interior fixtures that are still going strong in the hearts and minds of Malaysian home owners and are not 'ugly things'! But new property developers have opted for homogeneous tiles now because broken marble is out of fashion liao...

Still I prefer terrazzo to marble. Maybe because it comes in squares. Why must it be broken marble?? If they can break it to fit everywhere as a very random organic jigsaw puzzle, is it so much harder to assemble it in a more geometric way? (yes it's harder and more expensive probably).

PS I wonder how come people so takut termites attack laminate flooring but never think of all the existing parquet in so many Malaysian homes since the mid-90s? Wood also kan...

Many posts about flooring to ensue...
